Giant Laureate!
Jul. 15th, 2003 08:23 pmSo
bunnikins has this thing for Vin Diesel. And among her collection of Vin DVDs is _The Iron Giant_. Which we watched tonight, since we've seen both _Pitch Black_ and _xXx_ a few times recently.
Based on the book by Ted Hughes. To which, of course, my reaction was "Heh. Poor guy - imagine trying to make a literary reputation with *that* name. Not to mention trying to get a date."
Imagine my surprise - it really was written by *the* Ted Hughes.
Still, he did have children and possibly grandchildren. And presumably they needed all the laughs they could get.

And Oscar too

Date: 2003-07-15 06:29 pm (UTC)Ted Hughes, on the other hand ....
What springs to mind immediately, of course, is "See Crow Die. Die, Crow, Die".
Or perhaps "The Day Mummy Stuck her Head in the Oven".
Followed by the sequel "The day Step-Mummy Topped herself and her Small Child."
Much as I admire the mans work, about the only thing more bizarre than a Ted Hughes childrens book would be Philip Larkin's Illustrated "They Fuck You Up, Your Mum and Dad", for ages 3-8.
