So I've started asking people who know people in San Francisco to poke around for people who might be hiring in San Francisco.

If you know someone in San Francisco who's looking for a perl/XML weenie, but particularly (since I'm a *speshulist*), an IMS & ADL perl/XML weenie (your buzzwords here are SCORM and Learning Objects), then do feel free to tell me, and to tell them I'm their man.

Now, to convince [livejournal.com profile] bunnikins

Erm, worth looking, but pretty much impossible to start before October next year - all the H2B (I think) visa's are gone, gone, gone - whoa-o-o-oa

Which makes it (near enough to) impossible for an Aussie to get into the States at the moment, I fear. Ran smack into the same problem myself :)

Careful, you're channeling Tom Cruise there.

Bummer. How about Canuckistan? Maybe I could spend a Canadian summer there, and then jaunt off to SF in time for their winter.

Hire me, I'm redundant!
I can sense a Tshirt coming on....

Canada == Much easier.

In fact, you can grab some kind of one year work visa without even a sponser, which basically means you're 0 risk for any company. Alternately, you can get them to sponser you, which is (in my experience) very easy, as is the whole visa process.

Huzzah!
I shall write to Relic and say "Jesus, what the hell was with those missions in Dawn of War? Your level designers suck arse - hire me!"

Though it continues to surprise me that Relic are Canadian. I guess DoW ain't bad, for a bunch of lumberjacks.

A good first step towards convincing me would be promising to pay for shipping my book collection.

You do realise I don't go anywhere without the books, right?

Shipping wouldn't be that expensive by sea. By air, you could probably order new copies of everything that wasn't rare for the same price.

Ship my books by sea? The wet kind?

Surely you jest.

I hope you have as much trouble convincing [livejournal.com profile] bunnikins as I suspect you will :)
