I have a need to write an itty bitty perl program with an itty bitty gui, and a loong list of dependencies.

The catch being, the target platform is probably windows, and quite possibly windows without Perl installed.

I'm presuming it's possible to build standalone binaries with all the relevant libs included, but does anyone have actual experience with such a thing?

I'm pretty sure that ActiveState has a builder thingy which basically makes a standalone Win32 exe including Perl library dependencies and such. Costs money, but I assume tht's not necessarily a problem...

"perldev", from ActiveState, Scott says. Money is a problem - it's not for work.

OTOH, apparently PAR is pretty usable these days, and is free.

Apparently PAR is the thing to use. I haven't used it, but so says the naked perl guru standing behind me. http://search.cpan.org/dist/PAR/

More specifically, pp looks like the tool I'm after, thanks.

And in fact Scott has a copy of the Perl Dev kit, and is happy to compile the app down once I've written it. Huzzah
