Rawk.
"Well, I *would* log out and come to bed, my love, but...."

In other news, I seem to have a career path again.
A career path with architectural opportunities in a company of 19,000.
It's small time after Monash, of course, but it's who I wanna be and where I wanna be and doing what I always said I wanted to...

whooot.

Do tell me of this career path... architectual opportunities? Is there something about sand castles in your earlier life that I've missed?

Ice cream castles...

... in the sky :)

Software architecture, as opposed to merely writing code.
Apparently I'm moderately good at it, and it's the bit that interests me - by the time you get down to actually writing code, often the problam has been solved, and is no longer fun.
It's *designing* the solution that's fun.

And there hasn't been much opportunity for that in a company of 25 people where the work is basically routine and firefighting, and maintaining legacy stuff.
In a company of thousands, there's always something that needs being done better, and there's generally resources to do it. Wheee...

The short term is still much routine crap, of course, but the career path is back.
