I don't post these often :)
Does Jai want to get back into technical theatre because:
a) He really, really enjoyed it, which isn't to say he hasn't enjoyed his other careers, but that maybe it's time to give it a real go.
b) Midlife crisis! It's been 5 years in IT, time to move on, and tech. theatre is something he knew and loved. And maybe it'll be like being 17 again!
c) Anywhere but here - his current job is ... not as fun as it was, and it's a similar frustration to the last few IT gigs, so maybe he's just not cut out to be a programmer.
Bonus points given to answers that include LX job offers! :)

Date: 2004-04-21 05:57 am (UTC)Don't mean to discourage, but compared to Theatre, IT is a breeze. if the reason is b or c, I think you should stay where you are. Because if the answer is a you will have a tough tiem as it is. Bend my ear on this topic on Sunday at Frisbee

Yes. If it'll make you happy in your job, definately.
If you're not enjoying your job, it's not worth doing, and resigning from a job you're not happy in is remarkably theraputic, as I've discovered recently. :)

Date: 2004-04-21 11:10 pm (UTC)That sounds like common sense to me, rather than escapism. Escapism is "Oh my god I'm old and need to turn my life around NOW! Gimme a porche and a blowjob!" - at least as I see it.

Date: 2004-04-21 11:16 pm (UTC)I think I just need to do a little of it, rather than necessarily changing careers again. Today, see, the stresses have eased a little, and I'm back to enjoying the geeking, and a couple of weeks ago I wanted to try teaching, so , y'know, there may be an *element* of knee-jerkery in it all :) Too much to do, too little time. *sigh*
