The system ... is down

Argh. I was all set to get some Actual Work done today (you know you're a slack bastard when you manage to bore yourself right out the other side of procrastination, and start doing work because it relieves the tedium). And then ... I tugged too hard on my headphone cable. And now I'm discovering how essential to hacking good headphones are. The fact that my morris-dancing officemate, having just returned from three weeks in Perth, is now playing Blondie's Greatest hits at me is ... unhelpful in this regard.

So, maybe tomorrow I'll get some work done...

Clearly they aren't *really* good headphones, because those have plugs on the headphone end.

(Then again, I use a set of Sennheiser HD580s at work, and want to buy a Headroom Total BitHead just as soon as I can justify blowing $500 on an amp for work...)

Don't know that it would have helped. I kinda pulled sideways. And I have two criteria for good: "cup" rather than "bud" style, and capable of playing music in a fashion that enables me to identify the actual song :) I am not now, nor have I ever been, an audiophile - the dead pair cost me $15, IIRC.
