I guess you only get one chance ...

.. in life to play a song that goes like...
And that's true. And those songs (and the experience of playing them) rock. But if you miss that chance, or choose not to take it, well hell. There'll be other songs.
(Sometimes, of course, you find yourself in a position like Madi, where you *do* have to make serious, permanent, self-body-psyche altering irreversible decisions. Thank the gods, most of us are spared that. Really. All our decisions affect our lives. Very few of them are worth *half* the seriousness we attach to them.)
Being afraid of choosing which song spoils it all.
This advice, of course, is for Hobbes, but if it makes a difference, it is, of course, inspired (like much of my life at the moment) by the woman who got me hooked on Frank Zappa.
Just sing.
If it's the wrong song, you can always stop, and if you miss the chance to sing that song, make it because you're singing another one, not because you're afraid of choosing.
And sure, that's easy for me to say, but would you listen to life-style advice from someone whose life *didn't* rock?

Like the Tom Waits. "Not, perhaps, for everyone. Those who like a little adventure, maybe."
