I had a dream last night...

tyggerjaiSo last night, before Alice, Thorfy and I were discussing (or ranting about) Industry Best Practice in terms of procedure and process, and infrastructure.
And I mentioned that technical theatre is very similar - the big union houses (Malthouse, Vic. Arts Centre) have stacks of documented procedures so as a new tech you can walk in and know what's expected of you, and where everythig is, and what the gotchas are, and what, basically, the fuck is going on. In immense and boring detail.
And so I had a dream that I was doing lighting again. And I woke up with a determination to get back into it. Except that it's time consuming, and I really enjoy geeking, and there aren't enough hours in the day as it is.
Then someone sent me a pointer to this:

Sorry for the pdfness of it all, but Museum Victoria are looking for someone to do streaming media/AV stuff in their theatres. It's a mostly geeky role, but with a bit of theatre tech stuff.
In short, perfect. And I dreamed it.
Pay cut sucks, and Thorfy will be grumpy, cos he'll have to replace me and I just started, but ... sometimes chasing the dream means hard choices. Neh?
