Monthly progress.
Oct. 24th, 2008 10:51 amThe lifting is going ok - stalling slightly, but that would be because I keep taking weeks off. I'm not sure about this 3-day split. I love the fact that I'm always done in 30 minutes, but I'm not convinced it has the same long term gains. I think I'm still new enough to lifting (even if it is second time around) that I'd get more out of training everything 3 days a week. In fact, there's a certain amount of evidence to suggest that muscle groups never need more than 48 hours recovery for hypertrophy. I really need a pet biologist. Anyway, I'll stick it out for another 2 weeks and see, it'll be time to change it up after that anyway.
Boot Camp - I ran Boot Camp hill in 6:06 this morning, my previous best was 6:42, I think. So, wow. I think everything else in Boot Camp was up numbers-wise on last Test Day as well, despite me having worked out yesterday. So that's nice - an off day these days is still above my old performance.
And in the most exciting news, I need to get physio at work to sign me off on using the gym gear, and sign their waiver, and then Warren the head coach is going to spend a session with me on straps, and either say "Sure, you can go ahead and train straps on your own time" or "Come back in a few months when you have the uper body strength you need". Either way, progress! I haven't been able to work much towards my stitz because I'm not technically allowed to use the straps - having the opportunity to actually train on them, even if it's "only" conditioning, is something I'm looking forward to. And hopefully tissu as well. One of our riggers is an ex-aerialist, so she and I are going to train together. Yay!
