Huh. "Restore from saved draft" can be kinda interesting when you were only *just* sober enough to realise that posting was a bad idea in the first place.

Anyway. If there were 5 questions I wanted to ask you, I would have done so, probably over beer. So I don't really do that form of that meme.

What I do, though, is answer questions, assuming any of you are interested enough to ask.

Like these, from [livejournal.com profile] bunnikins:

1. What's with the Hello Kitty thing?
I don't know! I blame [livejournal.com profile] p_cat and [livejournal.com profile] neefsck, for the original Hello Kitty Device. After that, I just kinda liked the juxtaposition of Hello Kitty and weird homebrew technology. Wanting a Hello Kitty tattoo kinda came from nowhere, though. I think there's just so much Hello Kitty stuff already that she's already become the uncomplaining icon of ... not necessarily eccentrification, but a similar spirit that says "If you want a Hello Kitty Jeep, have a Hello Kitty jeep!". Nothing is impossible to Hello Kitty, nothing is out of reach, nothing is too silly or over the top.

2. Does being married feel different to living together to you, or do you just like saying 'my wife'?
Hard to say. So much changed - even just going from living with housemates to living alone together, leaving aside the whole moving-to-China thing. I do like saying "my wife", and some things do feel more ... secure? I dunno. Yes, I think it feels different. Mostly in a good way :) See answer to number 5.

3. If you woke up tomorrow as a character from a book or movie which one would you like it to be?
Tigger :)

4. Why can't I get to sleep? Also, can I have a golf cart?
I suppose it could have been the coffee. Yes. But I suspect you seriously over-estimate the potential for adding weaponry to your average golf cart. You'd be better off with a Taylor-Dunn.

5a. What are you looking forward to most about going home? Least?
In December, or for good? In December, Midsummer and Blue Train, and Jess. For good (or at least, pre-Montreal;) ... life here feels like a big holiday. It's like real life is on hold, until we get "home". So I'm looking forward to a new shed, and restocking my tools, and making a new home and life starting again. Which ties in with being married, kinda - we lived in a share house, and then we got married, and then we kinda put "life" on hold for this magical circus dream, and when we get home, it'll be ... different. A new life. *shrug* Much like the old life, but there's a lot more I need to get around to, and being here is starting to make me chomp at the bit.

Least? Expensive food.

And from [livejournal.com profile] fizit:
1. Pick a song, any song - and tell me why
Cat Empire - Days Like These.
It was my anthem freelancing in Melbourne over Spring/Summer. Long afternoons after work, a couple of beers with mates, and my own projects to work on. And I've just started day crew here, which means ... long afternoons after work, a couple of beers, and my own projects to work on :)

2. Name one dish in Macau that's made you go 'I absolutely must learn to recreate this when I get home'
There was a lovely chicken and mushroom hotpot. But I think the dumplings. Oh, the seared salmon from the Sushi place. It's a piece of salmon sashimi draped over sushi rice, and then literally blowtorched for a few seconds. It's exquisite.

3. When did you move to Melbourne, and did you know many people before you got here?
1992. I knew one person. I moved to study drama at Rusden, which no longer exists, and Barb, a friend of mine from high school in Canberra was the year above me. She went back to Canberra in 3rd year. I didn't really build a social network worth speaking of until Lorenzo, who introduced me to Renee, and then the rest of you beautiful freaks. Which was 1996, 1997. It's funny, though, early 96 I started going out with Lisa, and many of her friends were people we knew from Canberra who'd moved down to Melbourne.

4. What was the first thing you noticed about Bunnikins that made you realise that, yup, this *is* love
Absolutely no idea. Um. It all kinda happened very fast. I guess the fact that we moved in together quite soon after we started going out, and not only did it feel fine, but it actually worked out. Given that before that I had a history of needing more space if a girlfriend even stayed over more nights than not, that was quite a moment. I dunno. It was also interesting realising that Megan was the original template for much of the behaviour of another Certain Ex of mine. Many of the things I'd enjoyed about her company, only writ larger and without the angst.

5. What time were you born? :P
Oh, my precious. The things I do for you.

Re: Megan's 2 and 5.

When you come back, are you planning to live alone together, or sharehouse again?

No idea. The thing about being here is, we can afford to live alone.

I quite enjoy it, but I quite enjoy having flatmates, too. Depends on the people, the space, the timing. And how Megan feels, of course.

Yup. 96/97 I spent either with Lisa or licking my wounds from Lisa. I think late 97 I drifted back to hanging out with Lorenzo and Renee.
