We are the products of our past....
Feb. 12th, 2003 06:06 pmIt's amazing how things etch themselves into our memories.
It's been a long, long time since I had Queens entire discography on high rotation in my stereo.
And yet when I found We Will Rock You lying around at work, and listened to it, it was almost a physical shock when it stopped and *didn't* then go into "I've paid my dues, time after time ...."
Because, of course _News Of The World_, We Will Rock You is followed by We Are The Champions.
It felt ... wrong.
But one of their compilations must have had, at some point, Seven Seas of Rhye on it. Ace!
(update: YEs, it was the first greatest hits album - which retained the order of WWRY and WATC. Goodoh.)
Add that to my CD wishlist - Queen, Queen II, Day At The Races, and Night At The Opera.
Actually, everything up to and including One VIsion. Miracle and Innuendo I can live without.
This announcement has been brought to you by Jai's nostalgia for Seattle, and the letter Y.

Date: 2003-02-11 11:23 pm (UTC)I never listen to anything other than MP3s these days, so tapes are a little pointless.
I need to go to JB HiFi at some point with $500 i cash and just blow it on expanding the CD collection a little - there's some Tom Waits I want, and some more Bowie, and some Ani diFranco, and UB40 ....
Argh.

Date: 2003-02-12 04:48 am (UTC)Actually, fuck it. Feel your own pain while I feel the pain of insufficient Anthrax, Beethoven, Bloodhound Gang and Discordia. :)
I see your geek is as big as mine
Date: 2003-02-12 02:21 pm (UTC)There's a compilation that separates those two tracks? Horror! Incidentally, Seven Seas of
Rye is only on one version of Greatest Hits. There was a version that came out many, many
years ago (which I still have on tape) which is missing a few of the less well-known greatest
hits, including Seven Seas of Rye. It does, however, have Under Pressure on it. I believe
that one version was American, one was British and that Australia got first one then the other.
I can never remember which is which, though.
Dunno.

Rage recently replayed a CountDown episode with Molly saying "Next week, the brand new collaboration of Queen and David Bowie - great new track called Under Pressure".
Time Warp!
