Yeah, seeing that was part of it. General musings about no matter how fast you become close to new people, you just don't have 8 years worth of rubbing the sharp edges off. And LJ has been providing enough irony over the last couple of weeks, I don't need it from ym fucking MP3 player as well. I need a playlist titled "OH GO ON RUB A LITTLE MORE LEMON JUICE INTO THAT PAPER CUT!!"
We miss you too, love. You will be back one day, and then there will be all the Cooper's and Italian food and trams your heart desires. Until then, remember what took you over there.
Breakfast (latish) at Filou's, followed by a tram to Melbourne Central, wander there for a while, then down Swanston St browsing, through Bourke St, down the Royal Arcade, through Lincraft to Australia on Collins, into the arcade that leads to the alley that leads to Degraves st, down Degraves to the subway under Flinders St, and over to the Blue Train for lunch. That's my plan for the day when I'm back, hopefully for 2 weeks in December.
You could hit the Vic Market on the way to Filou's.
Alternatively, take a bunch of friends to lunch at Hot Poppy on Errol St. Start with Miss Cathy, if she's ever back in Melbourne, and Danielle, since I'm not sure you've ever even met them, and they were constant Hot Poppy companions.
More realistically, in one lunchtime or evening, head to the Blue Train and sit for as long as you have. Pizza, or bacon and eggs, and coffee for a long afternoon. But Blue Train is Melbourne for me because it's the start or end of long walks through the CBD, stretching a quick shopping trip into hours of exploring.
