More things I have learned.
May. 26th, 2008 10:00 pmSplicing 12-strand plasma/kevlar/tek-12/spectra rope. In 2 ways - one quick but prone to failure under work, one less quick but rock solid.
French Whipping. That's not as perverse as it sounds, though the rope we use for longes is a pervert's delight - soft, black, and human-load-rated....
Anyway. If that sounds like fun, and you have rigging or LX experience, preferably with relevant qualifications such as a scissor/boom lift ticket, a rigger's ticket, ETCP certification, or just theatre/circus experience, and you want to spend a year or 2 having fun with me in Macau, you should probably drop me a copy of your resume. Just saying.

Spectra by the roll, enough sexy Climbing Sutra gear to, well, keep Climbing Sutra in business, learning acrobatic rigging from the best in the world, both technicians and artists....
But it's not all fun and games - we've lost 3 riggers already, and quite a few more are just hanging on til their contracted year is up. Cirque, and Macau, are not for everyone.

I'll have to be content with the world's craziest ground row (20 rows. 750 amps. Super pain in the ass, but at least it travels in the set.) and learning tons of random new stuff at the Opera. They keep training me on new stuff and giving me responsibility. It's weird.
