Fuck.

So we booted the old sphinx tonight, to get it doing tv out stuff.
And we realise Red Hat just isn't going to cut it.
And Ben has never seen what happens when you type rm -rf * at the root level of a linux box, as root.

So, since we're blowing it away, I figured what the hell.

Fortunately, it's very boring, because "ls" goes first. So I killed the box after a few minutes.

And then logged into fatcat, the main server, the one with most of the things I hold dear on it.

And that's not my personalised prompt.

And those aren't my aliases.

And this is not my home directory.

What's worse than discovering you have been hacked? Discovering you've been a moron.

Because, of course, I mount my home directory to my workstations, don't I?
And I have no_root_squash, because occasionally I need to dick around with things.

And I blew away almost my entire home directory on fatcat.

Fortunately, most of the code is in cvs. And the writing is on kittling. But there's months worth of mail in there that I'll never see again.

Ah well. Time for a change, anyway. Consider it a spring clean, courtesy of the fuckup fairy.
