Better and fucking better
Jan. 15th, 2003 11:02 pmNow the bios and freebsd don't even recognise the 6 gig IDE drive.
It was a freeby, so easy come easy go, I guess, but FUCK.
This is exactly why I hate messing about with hardware.

Knowing your warez.
Date: 2003-01-15 05:48 am (UTC)I guess we leave the wetware to someone else.
Any volunteers?
(Do I have a spare box? Puh-lease.)
Re: Does that mean?
Date: 2003-01-15 02:29 pm (UTC)I suspect I'm going to have to REINSTALL EVERYTHING. (When I reinstall windows, that will blow away the MBR, with the freeBSD boot loader. FreeBSD will then refuse to boot until I reinstall it, which I need to do anyway to get multiboot. Yes, I consider the inability to simply refrob the MBR to be a shortcoming on the part of FreeBSD, but not as bad as W2Ks seeming inability to multiboot *at all*)

Enquiring minds want to know ...
Date: 2003-01-15 12:24 pm (UTC)I hasten to add, it would seem one of life's more harmless & fun obsessions, but I just wondered ...
Re: Does that mean?
Date: 2003-01-15 02:33 pm (UTC)Software, rather than hardware, usually.

I've got that in writing now, you know.
Terribly legal
Date: 2003-01-15 06:31 pm (UTC)Alas...
Date: 2003-01-15 06:41 pm (UTC)I don't *enjoy* it, I'd rather be messing about with software.
And that's why from now on I must constantly buy new computers, so I don't have to mess around with old ones.
I'm glad we see this the same way.
No more messing about with old hardware, just purchasing of shiny new hardware whenever anything goes wrong.
