More to life than this...
Gar.
So leaving Monash is kinda inspiring.
I don't know that going to the new place is necessarily exciting or inspiring, but it's a job, with new challenges, and a new skillset to work on. All good.
And every now and then I catch myself doing the inertia/nostalgia thing (actually, quite often) and thinking that Monash *could* be such a lovely place to work, if ...
But none of the ifs ever happen, and it's really *not* a lovely place to work at the moment, so, hey, jumping ship.
And I'm all inspired now. I do this every now and then, and I'll get over it , but I got sick of spending my life sleeping.
And I remembered that it's Ok for rabbit to spend her life sleeping, but I can go out and do other stuff *on my own*. Maybe. We'll see :)
So I'm doing SCA heavy combat again - avoiding the barony politics and maybe doing a feast or two, but mostly hitting things - and I spent all weekend on the bike, and arranged markets & cake in St Kilda with a few people. And I start fencing next week, and Benno's coming over to start work on a new geek project with me, and I'm looking into folk guitar lessons, and stuff.
We'll see :) Some of it might even last.
But I'm weary of spending my life in front of a computer screen. There's a world out there. I haven't cooked, baked, made anything - *done* anything in months.
And it's easy to blame Monash, for sucking my life away. But it's my life, neh?

Yep... so Skud's links to SCA on her website led me to learning how to cook stuff that doesn't yield to rain, hail or shine; and to the joy of canvas tents. I'm already the lowest of the low by playing Warhammer. I don't see why I can't ride horses, cook thick stews, wear busty outfits and sing loudly in front of a campfire. The fighting I'm not sure about (damn gender stereotypes). I'll ride off on my steed and collect magical herbs or something...

Hmmm, archery sounds really cool actually. I've only done a little bit back in high school, but I think i would be better at that than beating people with swords... and the 'image' is tres funky! ;)
Bah humbug
Well, a coupla things, but not many.
It's not like you don't have the height and build for it, after all.
I say if you *want* to fight heavy, give it a shot.
