Some things just don't scale
Dec. 30th, 2004 07:03 pmMental note for next year. When a ham recipe says "Simmer a 2kg joint for two hours", it doesn't, actually, work if you simmer a 4Kg joint for 4 hours.
Still, I think it'll taste ok, it just kinda fell apart, unlike last years, which was firm yet tender. We shall see, after the glaze. I'm sure it will be edible. Otherwise, we'll only have 8 kilos of pork!!
Update: OF course, I got the glaze Just Right this year, but half the reason I had such a large joint was that I wanted the whole end - bone and all. Of course, it fell off the bone, so I might as well have got a smaller middle leg joint. *sigh* What was that about learning from mistakes?
