New Years Reminder.
Dec. 30th, 2004 01:35 pm2 pm tomorrow.
Cunningly arranged, you'll note, so that if you have another party to go to later, you can still drop by for pork & beer. There may well be recovery lunch on Saturday, too - we piked on it last year, but I think there'll be much pork left over this year again.
Menu at the moment:
Pork Roast. Duh.
Apple-stuffed Loin (fnarr)
Cider-glazed West Country Ham (home made, or at least home-hammed)
BBQ ribs
Bacon & potato salad.
And, a New Years Resolution, apropos of yesterday's post:
"Are you listening?"
"Yes," said Tiffany.
"Good. Now ... if you trust in yourself ..."
"Yes?"
"... and believe in your dreams ..."
"Yes?"
"... and follow your star.. ." Miss Tick went on.
"Yes?"
"... you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Good-bye."
(Terry Pratchett, _Wee Free Men_)
I find it interesting, by the way, (apropos of yesterday's post among others) that by far the most popular post I've ever made was my review of Dawn of War, whereas the more personal reflective posts barely get a reply. Why is that?

Date: 2004-12-30 03:04 am (UTC)the amount of comments you get on a post is directly related to how frivolous and retarded it is. you could post something deserving of the pulitzer prize and no one would care, but if you just said "fart" at least five people would comment.

Date: 2004-12-30 06:54 am (UTC)The more fatuous and fluffy a post is, the more people are inclined to reply with fatuous, fluffy drivel, unbeknownst to the fact that said post was probably written as an exercise in the art of time-suckage. When it comes to more involved, introspective posts that actually mean something, they'll quickly scan for key words like "boobs", "my new hot fondue jacuzzi" and "hot gaybos at the gym" and blink several times.
