I'm crap when it comes to leaving workplaces. Monash was hard to leave, even though I was incredibly over it. This place .. I'm not even really over it, just that some business decisions didn't really sit with me, and it was becoming increasingly clear that it wasn't viable longterm. Which said, I was going to stick it out till after Venice - both because I need the money, and because, well, things could change.
But as of today, Goddess has decided that I really, really do want to leave this place. Or rather, that I really, really want to explore my options.
I have, as of today been made redundant. And there are what I accept as good business reasons for that - I have no serious issues either with the decision or with how it was handled - in fact, I've been well looked after, and the business didn't do it lightly.
And as a sign of the nohardfeelings, while the other redundantees are, I believe, leaving pretty much immediately, I'll be staying out to finish a project that's both important to the business and to me personally, and the business welcome that. And, y'know, finishing it won't hurt the resume :)
So. In 4 weeks, I'm on the market. I'm tempted to sit around for 6 weeks after that doing nothing, and then go to Venice (yes, they really, really took care of me :), then come back and look for work. But I hate sitting around doing nothing. So if any of you know of any gigs going that won't mind me running away to Venice for a month just after I start, do let me know, eh? Or, of course, any casual shift work between now and Feb, just to keep the pocket money rolling in.
I'm tempted to say something about how subtle Goddess isn't, except that I know she only whaps me upside head because I miss all the subtle stuff :)
And hey. If any of you are concerned, I'm actually really happy to have a fat wad o' cash, and a hard decision made for me. It's all good :)
