Housemate required.
We have the funkiest house in the world.
There's three of us - two geeks and a rabbit.
We're looking, probably, for another geek, but anyone easy going , meat friendly, smoke friendly, friendly. Did we mention easy going?
$500 per calendar month, which also covers our cleaner once a month. Shared bills (~ $50 pcm).
We're in Collingwood - handy for Smith St, Brunswick St, etc.
Available 1st November.
Own hub a plus.

Just thought I'd add....

As for the comic geek bit, you've just got to handle it the way The Jesus Andrew and I did when we lived together - have mutually exclusive fields of expertise :)

It's a room with a m00se!
And there are hills in it to hide behind for privacy.

How about own rack?
grin
Nah.
Rack space isn't so much the problem - they stack neatly - but the 10/100 switching hub downstairs is so out of ports it's not funny.
SO a hub would be better, but a rack is always handy.
Mind you, buying a 16 port switching 10/100 hub would be cheaper than buying out the rest of the rack.
Hmm...
You thinking of moving to Melbourne, then?

Re: Nah.
Not before the end of next year, most likely. hobbes reckons that's when she'll get bored of Canberra and want to go back to Melbourne. Probably a bit outside of your ideal timeframe, I suspect.
As for the hub thing - I do have a spare 16 port hub (10Mbit, not switching) that I can (probably) send down with hobbes next time she comes to visit. You want?
Re: Nah.
A hub would ba ace - even a 10 base will take the strain off the overflowing downstairs hub.
Half the machines downstairs won't benefit from 100 anyway - the Mac, the indys, the HP.
Either because they don't support it, or because they're just not used enough.

Re: Nah.
So given there is a nice room and a nice job waiting... hmm.. much easier option :) move to melbourne instead!
it is a really really nice house
/me wonders if megan would dissaprove of a rack...

Re: Nah.
okay - i'll be patient
also - i guess i get more chocolate this way :)
does a sports car equal a motorbike?
Re: Nah.
Depends what you're using as a comparator.
Tempting
But... could you handle living with me and my toys.
How big is the room? I tend to need 2 rooms plus a garage to myself these days.
Depends
We have no threephase, so the big toys might have to stay behind :)

Re: Depends
So it'll be a while.
Re: Depends
Most computers live either in bedrooms or the puter room, so that's not so bad either.
So long as they don't dim the lights or spill into the library.

Re: Depends
Usually only 2 or 3 machines on at a time (one with no monitor)... the rack (16 port 100baseTX switch and dual port 1200/9600 packet radio TNC).
The only thing I have at the moment that needs 3 phase is my 35kW shortwave transmitter, which isn't being used until I get my generator back... and that'll be going in my van when I buy one some time next year.
But yes... I suspect a number of my toys (the shed full of Apollo 20 inch monitors and the 6 foot high stack of sparcstations) will have to stay behind.
Re: Depends
Or 13W3, of course.

Re: Depends
Ow. What kind of licence do you need to drive one of those?
Re: Depends
I dont think you can get the experimental licences any more... I got mine under the old Department of Transport and Communications rules before it changes to the DOC and then the Spectrum Management Authority.
