Oct. 24th, 2008 12:58 pmThe plummeting Australian dollar continues to make me a very rich man at home, which I like. If only I could stop blowing it on Amazon. That all gets paid for by an Australian credit card, so I get prices in Australian dollars, which just depresses me again, even though I know I get the same effect in my favour when I send money home to cover it. I need to get a local credit card so at least I'm not paying 2 sets of international transfer fees.
But it also means, outside of Amazon, I'm trying to be sensible about buying stuff, so I can take some of my recent payrise home after a year. So it's all about setting goals. When I can run Boot Camp hill in under 6 minutes (currently 6:06, but that 6 seconds is going to kill me), I'm going to buy me a Chumby. I've been tempted by the Squeezebox in the past, but the Chumby does more and costs less. It may not have quite the same audio quality, but to be honest, I couldn't care less.
*shrug* I just thought you might want to know that.
