When in doubt ....
Sep. 19th, 2008 11:01 am.. blame the hardware. I spent an hour debugging arduino code to read a joystick yesterday - and it was 6 fucking lines - before sticking a multimeter on the joystick itself. Sure enough, fucked from the factory. Still, it half works, so I can use it for something.
The Flying Pirate Ship of Doom progresses - I now have joysticks, and code to read them, and by Monday I will have code to convert that to motor movement, proportional, forward and back. Huzzah. In theory, making that wireless is not the hardest thing in the world.
So then I just need to build the track and carriers....
It's just as well I brought my workshop, though, I tell you. For a dream gig, I'm remarkably over it at the moment. But that's another post. I just want to take the skills I've learned home, and start doing stuff with them. I love the people, but it's Corporate dressed up as circus. I want to be making art.
And the weather. Absolutely over the weather.
Anyway. Only 13 months to go. Tabarnac.
And being here has its moments. A big cup of freshly pureed mango juice, ice cold, for AU$2, for example.
