Wear Sunscreen
So, yesterday, we had some rigging hardware to weld up - grunt production-line stuff, no finesse, just get-the-job-done-and-go-home. So the boss was welding, him having 20 years experience as a boilermaker, and I was holding things in place. And since I wasn't welding, and I had to look for things, and grind thing sin between, etc, I had just goggles, instead of a mask. "Safety goggles are fine if you're not welding - they'll stop the flash, and just close your eyes to keep the light out." Ok. I remember Feynman saying something similar with regards to the UV flash from atomic bombs, so whatever, sounds good. Better than wearing a mask I don't have to in a hot stuffy workshop. Except, of course, the "flash" is UV. And the goggles don't cover any of my face. So I'm now pink and "sunburned", and slightly sore and grouchy.
*sigh* Life. It's a learning process, eh?
