Ladies and Gentlemen, The Glasshouse is pleased to confirm its 2004/5 season lineup, effective May 9.

They say you can't fight the zeitgeist. This year, The Glasshouse acknowledges that what the world needs now is love, sweet love - or reasonable facsimile thereof. We farewell the Pumping Doof of [livejournal.com profile] longi, who leaves us to pursue a solo project in the burbs - we wish him all the best for that.

In his place, we're pleased, finally, to welcome Dr. Lovepants himself, the suave, mellow grooves of [livejournal.com profile] spark_au. It's been a rocky road - we negotiated with the good Dr. last year, but he'd already accepted a tenure at Hotel Gore. So this spot has had his name on it for a while, and after a brief residency at Chez Kismet, The Glassshouse now looks forward to his unique blend of candlelit porkfests, Manhattan-fuelled cocktail parties, and scrubbers galore.

Welcome aboard!

Current music: Lucksmiths - Tree

I was humming this last night, thinking more of My Canberra Friend than anyone - when she was in Melbourne, we went to Uni with Tali, the Lucksmiths' lead singer. And we touched on him (as it were) briefly during our recent catchup. And the lyrics, while not entirely apt, have a certain resonance. I was at the Lucksmiths first evah gig on Brunswick St (the Provincial, I think), and caught a few of their gigs after that, and met a girl called Emma at one of them. Emma and I had a brief relationship - _I Live Here Now_ (the song (8 meg MP3) and the short story are largely inspired by her, as is _This Lifeboat is Full_, for those of you who dredge through the writing I post occasionally). We didn't last - she moved in, and was the first of the "Oh god I've let this girl move in and now I need space and she's too clingy and ah it's ALL WRONG" girlfriends, not helped by Casper coming to visit. In fact, our relationship basically ended when I said "Hey, my ex is coming to stay, and this bed ain't big enough for the three of us. Can you be out by Sunday?". Well, she was looking for somewhere else anyway. And the writing was on the wall. And ok, I'm not proud of it.

So, for the last couple of days, for whatever reason, I've had Tree in my head. And today, we went to a Strange and Different pub for lunch, which we rarely do. And as I was leaving, I kinda heard this voice say "Jai." And there was Emma. Heh. Complete with mobile phone and "I must get your number", which is funny, because she was rather vocal about her hatred of mobiles back in the day. And of course, I don't *have* a number. Phone zen, and all. Sa. We chatted briefly - enough to establish that we were who we thought we were, and that it was funny that she had a mobile, and that I had no number to give her, and left it at "Well, we'll run into each other again, I guess."

Or not, since it's been ten years. But anyway. Thats a wierd bit of synchronicity for you.

Fridays.

You may go about your business now, citizen.
