Anyone out there have a Toshiba TE2000 service manual, or laptop fixing fu?
I have a broken TE2000 - the power light flashes orange, which indicates "see dealer". Of course, this is *after* we took the thing apart...
When I first switched it on (it's second hand, and was very cheap because the guy selling it knew it was broken - had power problems, used to work, then only worked when he jiggled the battery, then stopped working, and toshiba said "broken system board - $900 to fix". Ouch. So I picked it up for a song on the grounds that if nothing else the hard drive and RAM would be salvagable. Anyway.), the power light was green, and the battery light orange. Which is all systems go. But then they went off, and I had nada, which suggests it's not seeing the battery. So, we ripped (literally) it apart, but fairly carefully. Couldn't see a problem. Put battery in - got flash to indicate battery going in, but still no acknowledgement of battery once in. So we put it back together, and finally I thought, well, maybe it's the battery. Bent the positive pole of the battery in, and voila ... flashing *orange*, which means "problem with poer supply or see dealer". Since it wasn't connected to the power supply, I'm guessing "See dealer". And yes, thank you, the evident conclusion is that we didn't put it back together quite right, and indeed I didn't put *all* the screws back in...
But I'm hoping someone will have laptop Clue, because it's a damn good deal ... if I can get it running :)
