ooooosp....
Jul. 25th, 2003 09:42 pmSO last week, I was playng with HTML::Mason, and hit an obscure bug with lc() and perl5.8.0, which is a perl bug, and is apparently fixed in perl 5.8.1.
Which is still a "development" release. So I got, and installed, perl 5.8.1RC2. AS /usr/local/perl. But it had it's own issues. So I got an dinstalled perl 5.8.0 from source, rather than debs. And now all my libraries were out of whack.
So, I got over it. And got drastic.
apt-get remove perl.
Never do this on a running debian box. Especially not with ten minutes before you have to go out to a miff film :)
The list of dependencies it's now uninstalling is .. scary
I can just feel the computer merrily, nay smugly, uninstalling 3/4 of the stuff I *need*, on a day to day basis.
Gar :)
Oh well. Experience, and all that :)
Nothing apt-get distupgrade can't fix.
sol.
