Market and hardware.
Nov. 16th, 2002 01:50 pmI've discovered something.
If I get up early enough on a Saturday, I can go to the Vic Market while rabbit is asleep. And then I can buy hardware, because she's not there to stop me.
More on hardware later.
There was no decent bok choy at the market today, anywhere. Cherries, lots of cherries. And I discovered the polish deli. I've always walked past it and thought "Oh, meat", but been going to get meat elsewhere, but it's very *specialised* meat - Knackwurst, and pork frankfurters and Polish Kabanos, and all good garlicy spicy stuff. Mmmm.
And I went to buy one of these newfangled DVD drive thingamajigs that are all the rage with the kids today.
They had a Liteon for $110, and a Sony for $100.
And I thought "Oh, Sony. They're a big name. That'll be better. I'll get that."
Now, bear in mind, one thing I do a lot is read CD-R format CDs - opensource weenie that I am, I have a lot of recorded CDs.
And guess what?
After much swearing I discover... new Sony DVD players don't support CD-R format.
So. Maybe I can take it back and get a Liteon that *will* read CD-R instead.
*sigh*
On the bright side I have a shiny new GeForce2 Mx400 graphics card.
Mmm, Nvidia goodness. Mmm, TV-out-with-DVD-player goodness. If only it played CD-Rs...
sol.
